About Zonta

What Is Zonta?

The Zonta Club of Traverse City is a chapter of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization of executives in business and professions with over 31,000 members. Zonta, founded in 1919, has as its mission the advancement of the political, economic, social and educational status of women worldwide.

The Traverse City club was granted its charter in 1956. We provide NMC scholarships for women wishing to improve their career opportunities. Healthcare has been a large part of our philanthropy for Munson Medical Center’s Women’s Heart Program, Smith Family Breast Health Center, Breast Pillow project and Women’s Health Pavilion. Major and Mini grants for community needs are awarded to non-profits on a biannual basis.  

The Outstanding Woman Leader Award, scholarships for Young Women to participate in the Inland Seas Program, and Michigan Tech University Summer Program are awarded each year. Funds for these projects are raised from our major events:
