Committees

All members are asked to serve on at least two of the committees below. Each committee meets on its own schedule.


Membership Committee

Screen and classify all new member applications. Review member requests for leaves of absence and resignations. Send followup questionnaires to new and terminated members. Coordinate orientation of new members. Oversee information management and membership booklet. Oversee attendance of members at meetings.

Fellowship, Decorations, Points: This subcommittee of the Membership Committee is responsible for having greeters at each meeting to welcome members and guests. Setup head table flags, gong, and gavel. Plan mixers during meetings. Send get well, sympathy, thinking of you, congratulations, and other cards as appropriate to Zontians and their families. Provide decorations for special meetings and fundraisers.



Status of Women Service Committee

The Service Committee includes the following subcommittees.

Amelia Earhart: Promote club awareness of the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Program, promote local student interest in fellowships, and plan a program celebrating Ameila Earhart or related topics.
Environment: Clean the highways three times each year and look for other environmental issues the club might address. Work with Program Committee for one program each year.
Literacy: Coordinate the reading program for Helen's House. Review literacy needs in the community for other "hands on" and/or financial support from the club.
Project 100: Coordinate Project 100 Encouragement Day and various activities throughout the year with JASMIN.
Service: Oversee fundraisers and community activities such as bell ringing and the NMC BBQ. Review mini-grant requests and recommend spending of other service funds to the board and the club.
Sponsorship: Sponsorship committee coordinates all sponsor solicitation for major fundraising activities such as Festival of Trees and Golf Outing, plus any other sponsorships needed.
Status of Women: Select Young Women in Public Affairs Award recipient, Leadership Academy participants, Inland Seas participant, and Woman of the Year Award winner. Sit on Zonta NMC/WRC Scholarship Committee. Propose additional local service to improve the status of women. Coordinate projects with service and literacy. Working with International/Intercity, promote international service projects to improve the status of women.



Finance Committee

Prepare annual budget, work closely with Treasurer and President to prepare financial outline for the biennium.


Public Relations & Communications Committee

Assist other committees and Zonta projects by writing articles and/or ads that will be submitted to newspapers, journals, magazines, radio and TV stations. Prepare any public relations displays that may be needed. Maintain the club history and scrapbooks.

Bulletin: This subcommittee of the PR Committee is responsible for putting out eleven Zontianettes each year. Committee members are needed to communicate with members of other committees and keep their eyes open for information to feed to the editor.



United Nations & Intercity Committee

Promote contacts with clubs and Zontians worldwide. Work with Program Committee on United Nations program. Promote attendance at activities of other clubs, conferences, workshops, and International Convention. Work to develop closer relationship with nearby clubs.



Policy & Bylaws Committee

Review any changes made at International Convention requiring changes to club by-laws. Review and propose changes to club by-laws or standing rules as needed. Update the Club Handbook.



Program Committee

Coordinate and schedule speakers for nine programs and June Fun Night each year. Work with other committees on their designated programs.
