2011 COMMUNITY AWARDS Announcement
On May 4, 2011, the Zonta Club of Traverse City presented monetary and honorary recognition to three highly-accomplished local young women.
The Zonta International Young Woman in Public Affairs Award was presented to Emily Lint, Senior from the Kingsley Schools. Emily’s name will now be entered in yet another contest sponsored by Zonta International District 15. The prize winner of this step will be awarded $1500.
Katie Mosher from the Kalkaska High School, will attend the Inland Seas Young Women in Science Program this summer.
This award combines the adventure of sailing with the discovery of Great Lakes Science.
Zonta’s Surprise 2011 Outstanding Woman Leader Award was won by Elizabeth Post of Traverse City. Liz works at the Goodwill Inn Homeless Shelter, and, as a young women, has demonstrated great passion and acuity in assisting in admissions and placement of numerous entrants at the Goodwill Homeless Shelter.
Each Zonta monetary award requires that the applicant submit descriptive essays, letters of recommendation, and transcripts as part of the competition. The winner of the Zonta OWL Award is kept as a surprise until the end of the meeting.
