Grants

Congratulations to the 2023 grant recipients! We are proud to support these worthwhile organizations through the fundraising efforts of our members.

  • WRC was granted money for a campaign to raise awareness of the multifaceted nature of domestic violence and to help ensure that survivors are connected to the resources they need to get the help they deserve. Flyers containing information identifying abuse along with WRC contact information for 24-hour emergency helpline will be strategically placed. A billboard campaign and light pole banners will also be part of this awareness campaign. This funding will ensure survivors in our community know how to get help and can access the resources available to them.

  • TBCAC is one of the largest child advocacy centers in Michigan, serving a six-county, seven jurisdiction area and is the regional response center for crimes against children. Staff training is a priority but cannot be funded with current federal funding. This grant will enable five TBCAC staff members to attend the Child Advocacy Centers of Michigan conference.

  • Zonta provided funds for “Leading by Learning” professional development to educate, enhance performance and enrich CFS staff. This grant will help ensure that CFS female staff’s diverse professional development and counseling needs and wants are met leading to employee retention. Staff longevity benefits the organization and, importantly, the clients.

  • Zonta awarded grant funds to the Down Syndrome Up North Association in support of social and skillful activities for adults with Down Syndrome. This grant will fund a monthly cooking program for up to eight students per class.

  • Zonta grant to fund participant fees for forty girls for first year troop support. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience programming includes STEM, entrepreneurship, outdoor education and life skills.

  • This grant will fund tree trimming and native plant installation at Willow House in the GTACG. This project is expected to prolong the life of this living structure and provide open sight lines from the Boardman to an iconic structure for children’s play.

  • Recycle-A-Bicycle (R-A-B) provides bicycles to economically disadvantaged individuals and families, as well as those experiencing homelessness. This grant supports the cost of providing twelve clients with refurbished bicycles with lights and locks, and an additional ten repairs at no cost to those or other clients.

  • Zonta grant will fund service for children in MIHP(Maternal Infant Health Program) and their siblings through the Kalkaska County Health Department. This project will increase children’s access to print and literacy tools in the homes of low-income families. It also provides and on-going supply of free new books selected by the mothers.

  • This grant will help defray the costs associated with being released from jail or prison. BDAI supports the empowerment of women, children and families through advocacy, leadership development and direct service.
